The Butterfly Effect

The Only Thing That is Constant In Life Is Change

The butterfly represents transformation, resurrection, overcoming obstacles and embracing life’s expected and unexpected changes.

When we look at the butterfly from afar we think “how pretty”, but the real beauty is when you see the butterfly up close, when you can see the gorgeous detail that God created it to be and you can see the true outcome of its life purpose. What you don’t always see is its humble beginnings, its struggles, the work and patience it took to get to this glorious stage of living. If I watched the whole transformation, I would appreciate the outcome more because I understand its process and I know the process contributed to the beauty of the outcome.

The caterpillar in its humility utilized the ant for some degree of protection and they in turn gathered honeydew secretions. This reminds me that humility is not failure. Quitting is failure. Just because you’ve found yourself in a place of needing help that does not cancel your glorious ending. It is just a humble beginning.

The chrysalis (cocoon), the phase where the great transformation takes place, It is a place of character building. This is considered a hard place. I call it the wilderness stage. Sometimes you have to pass through this phase to get to the promise. What’s funny is that we often think that this is the final stage. We tend to think that the chrysalis is all there is to life, not realizing that the best is yet to come. Patience (endurance) is necessary for this stage. Tribulation produces perseverance and perseverance, character, and character, hope. Romans 5:3-4

I found that in this phase some people who don’t know your purpose tend to try and talk you out of your process instead of through your process. Some mean well, They were just trying to help. What they don’t know is that coming out prematurely can cause a crippling effect. It can cause you to live your life underdeveloped  and never being able to experience the full life that was designed for you. It is important to increase in discernment so that we can understand the time and season we’re in. We have to gain wisdom.

The butterfly (the glorious outcome) reminds me not to give up, or die in the process, but to embrace life changes with the end in mind. It reminds me that my life’s work is preparing me for the glory to come. We were not created to die in the developmental phase (cocoon). It reminds me that when the moment comes where I can emerge from the chrysalis and spread my wings wide and fly, the scars of my past will contribute to the beauty of my character. it reminds me that on the other side of all of the trials and tribulations awaits the glorious stage of living we were designed to live.
